Regular Fania Records Showcases (c.1969–1972)

The Cheetah served as the primary New York City booking room for the Fania Records roster from approximately 1969 through the club's closing: regular appearances by Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe, Larry Harlow, Bobby Valentín, and Johnny Pacheco drew a predominantly Nuyorican and working-class Latino audience to 1686 Broadway throughout this period. The August 1971 All-Stars concert documented in 'Our Latin Thing' was the culmination of this sustained Fania presence rather than an isolated event.
