C'mon Everybody

Overview

Queer-owned bar, live room, and arts space on the Bed-Stuy/Clinton Hill border, opened June 2015 by Eric Sosa and partners to platform LGBTQ/QTPOC artists and provide a welcoming community anchor in central Brooklyn.

C'mon Everybody opened in June 2015 at 325 Franklin Avenue, between Clifton Place and Greene Avenue, at the soft boundary between Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill. The venue was founded by Eric Sosa (owner and programming director), Sam Gilliland (graphic designer), Michael Zuco (a critical care nurse; Sosa's partner), and Michael's brother Anthony Zuco (business operations), four partners, three of whom kept outside day jobs. The space holds roughly 150 people: a front bar with an arched mahogany bar, retro-modern wood finishes, and a 1970s New York aesthetic, then a back live room with a small stage and disco ball, with capacity around 100 for ticketed events. The hours run Sunday–Thursday 6 p.m.–2 a.m., Friday–Saturday to 4 a.m. From the outset Sosa shaped programming around a clear mandate: uplift artists from communities (queer, BIPOC, women, Latinx) who had struggled to access New York City's larger live-arts infrastructure. Early bookings grew into a reputation for catching artists before they broke, with the venue presenting early-career sets by Tank and the Bangas, Yaeji, Madison McFerrin, Anna Wise, L'Rain, Melanie Charles, and Sons of an Illustrious Father, among others. Alongside live music the room ran regular DJ residencies, including a monthly slot for Philadelphia soul-and-jazz DJ Rich Medina, Femme Jam Session (an all-female-artist jam series), and the NeoAfroFuturist duo The Illustrious Blacks' recurring tribute nights pitting Diana Ross against Donna Summer, Whitney Houston against Mariah Carey, and Aretha Franklin against Chaka Khan. Regular events also included YES HOMO (a queer daytime dance party), Yas Mama (a Latinx queer party), Monday Night Burlesque, Brazilian Soul Session (second Sundays), and the 1990s throwback night Everybody Everybody. When the COVID-19 pandemic shut the venue in March 2020, Sosa and the partners launched a community GoFundMe to sustain operations through closure. C'mon Everybody survived the shutdown and remains active. The owners subsequently expanded with a sister bar, Good Judy, a queer-and-allies bar with a piano-bar/cabaret room that opened on July 11, 2020, in the former Excelsior space at 563 Fifth Avenue in South Slope. As of 2026, C'mon Everybody remains the flagship, still independently owned and queer-operated at its original Franklin Avenue address.
