Biography
Larry Levan was the resident DJ of the Paradise Garage, where his long Saturday-night sets and his tuning of the room's sound system are widely cited as foundational to what became known as garage. His programming was emotive and eclectic, played to a devoted, largely Black and Latino, queer crowd.
